Panela-sweetened cocoa nibs are deliciously crunchy and enchant with their intense aroma and rich bouquet of flavours.
Cocoa nibs contain many rare and beneficial nutrients. Raw cacao also contains more antioxidants than any other thoroughly researched food, including red wine, green tea and blueberries. Crushed and shelled unroasted cocoa beans, or cocoa nibs, are the most antioxidant-rich food in the world (antioxidants make up 10% of the weight of cocoa), containing more than 1200 active ingredients. The most abundant in raw cacao is magnesium, with significant amounts of iron, chromium, calcium, zinc, sulphur and copper. Raw cacao is also a good source of fibre, with high levels of vitamins E and C. Also known as the ‘food of the gods’ or ‘food of good cheer’, raw cacao also contains substances that make the body feel good, such as tryptophan, 5-HTP, serotonin, dopamine, phenylethylamine and anandamide.
Cocoa nibs can be chewed on their own, added to porridges, yoghurt, smoothies, desserts and, of course, as an ingredient in raw chocolate.
