Description

Quince or Unicydonia is like a lemon. It is a sour, yellow fruit that looks like a tiny apple, but tastes sour.

Because of its high vitamin C and citric acid content and its yellowish colour, the fruit is popularly known as the Nordic lemon. The fruit and leaves are rich in organic acids, essential oils, vitamins and trace elements. In addition to vitamin C, misocydonium also contains B vitamins, carotenoids and flavonoids. It is also rich in pectin and tannins and very low in sugars.

What are the uses of misocydonia?
The fruit is used to make: raw jam, compote, stew, jelly, juice, syrup, marmalade, soups and to flavour foods. They are particularly good for flavouring tea in winter.
