The ripe fruit of Acerola(Malpighia emarginata) is dark red in colour and no more than two centimetres in diameter. The ripe berry is crunchy, with a piquant, bitter-sweet flavour. The berries are harvested when semi-ripe, when the vitamin C content is at its maximum. Vitamin C content 1500mg /100g.
